Former Bank of New South Wales and Olympic Cafe
The left half of this building was erected prior to the Bank of New South Wales leasing the property, from 1907 until 1915. The property was purchased by Mr S Sheather in 1908, who added a three room shop to the right side of the building in 1911. This new addition was initially leased by hairdresser and tobacconist, Mr Charles Whiting.
Both properties had a number of owners and tenants until 1940, when they were purchased by Mr Spiro Kepreotes, who established the Olympic Café, and leased out the old bank as a residence.
Spiro, and his nephew Nick Colvyas, operated the café until 1962. The premises stayed as a café and residence, changing owners many times until closing in 2005.
