Former Brovman's Store
This large store has been dominant in the history of the Stockinbingal village. The first business to operate on this site, in the 1890s, was a produce store in a large shed.
A single fronted store was erected here in 1900, and in 1908 Edward Begley added a bakery next door, trading from both stores.
In 1917, the two stores were updated into a double fronted brick building, under the ownership of Thomas Ellwood.
From 1917 until 1922, Ellwood leased the building to Mr Isaac Bovman, a draper from Temora, who operated a large general merchandise store. The Ellwood family then took over the store, trading as a general store until 1968.
In more recent years, the shop operated as a café and a second-hand furniture store. A fire severely damaged the building in November 2012, and a subsequent rebuild featured the façade being reproduced virtually identical to the original.
