Being in the Riverina region, the Cootamundra scenery is just simply something else. The native tree’s guiding you along your path throughout National Parks and along dam banks will provide you with an insight into not only the beautiful countryside, but also the areas animals as well.
Captains Walk
Unique to Cootamundra, the Captains Walk Features 42 bronze sculptures of Australian Test Cricket Captains, along with Unaarrimim the leading Aboriginal player in the first Australian Cricket team to tour England in 1868.
Cootamundra has strong connections with two Australian test cricket captains, being the birthplace of Sir Donald Bradman and a former home of Bill Murdoch. Their careers led to a special interest I cricket among the people of Cootamundra, which still prevails, with Cootamundra boasting nine cricket ovals with three turf wickets.
Dr Tom Dwyer Bass, was commissioned to complete 30 busts to be displayed in the Captains Park in Jubilee Park.
Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council is privileged to have worked with and Tom Bass Sculpture Studio School at Erskineville.

Cootamundra bird walk
The Cootamundra Bird Walk meanders along the Muttama Creek and is home to a wonderful array of native plants, birds and animals.
In 2003 the Muttama Creek Regeneration Group was formed, they continue to work tirelessly to to improve the health of the Muttama creek. In 2010 two corrugated structures (galah and kangaroo) were positioned near the John Rees bridge in Wallendoon Street.
In 2011, Cootamundra’s Men’s Shed placed bird sculptures connected to Cootamundra. Some of the wild life structures to be seen entering from Mackay Street are the Goanna, Ringtail Possum, Superb Parrot, Boobook Owl, Brolga, Rainbow Bee-eater, Tawny Frogmouth, Pied Currawong, Eastern Rosella, Azure Kingfisher and the Blue Faced Honey Eater.

main street walk
The main street of Cootamundra is a lovely gracious walk that offers a wide variety of retail therapy, coffee shops and cafe’s, as well as Antiques home wares and much more. the street itself is called Parker Street, and has reverse parking. Many old historic buildings frame the street and tell a story along the way.
